Denim Masterclass

A 3 day training course at Ravensbourne University, going into all things denim. Starting with a fascinating day on denim history. From fabric, jean anatomy, trends, washing and sustainability; led by the ever knowledgeable Mohsin Sajid.

The remaining course was spent making a classic 5 pocket selvedge jean, courtesy of Kaihara denim. Interesting details included a one piece continuous fly, hidden back pocket rivets and pocket reinforcements.

The construction meant the jeans were just as cleanly finished on the inside as the outside- not a sight of overlocking! I loved the way in which the selvedge was placed; used along the waistband to highlight the narrow width of true selvedge.
